Mutts with a Mission

**Please Note: you must be willing to commit to attending training for up to 18 months. Thank you.**

  1. Contact us via mail, phone, or e-mail; we will conduct an informal, preliminary interview with you, and answer any questions you have.
  2. Submit an application and a $50, non-refundable application fee to MWAM (you can submit this fee mailing it to Mutts with A Mission, P.O. Box 4147, Suffolk, VA 23439. You can download the application from our site or call to have an application mailed to you.
  3. Completed Medical History forms are returned to MWAM.
  4. MWAM will review your application and call you with any questions we may have regarding your application.
  5. MWAM will contact your references.
  6. MWAM will contact you for an interview that includes everyone who lives in your household.
  7. You demonstrate the ability to pay for the daily expenses of caring for a dog, including, but not limited to, food, vet care, heartworm medication, and replacement equipment. 
  8. MWAM will temperament test the dog you would like to use for training. 
  9. MWAM will notify you of your suitability for our program via mail or email. If you do not have a dog or your dog was not suitable for training we will request you contact us to discuss your needs and possible preferences of a dog to train through our program.

 

 

We endeavor to provide the most “perfect” match of a dog with a client. When a suitable dog has been identified, we will contact you regarding meeting the dog, signing the contract regarding the dog, and pick up of the dog.

If MWAM finds a dog for the applicant the dog remains the property of MWAM if training is not completed. Ownership is granted after one year and successful passing of the re-certification test.
