We Are Thrilled to Welcome Seven New Service Dog Teams to The Mutts With A Mission Family!

Earlier this month, our new recipients embarked on an intensive and inspiring 2-week training journey with their new Service Dogs. These teams have worked endlessly learning everything from navigating the grocery store, elevators, escalators, and TSA checkpoints, to learning how to dine out, attend sporting events, and care for their dogs daily—this experience has been both exhilarating and exhausting. It’s been a whirlwind of classroom time, hands-on field trips, and deep bonding—not just with their Service Dogs, but with one another.

The connection between a Service Dog and its recipient is far more than companionship. It’s a powerful, life-changing partnership built on trust, consistency, and care. Each dog’s specialized training blends seamlessly with their recipient’s unique needs, creating a team that provides support, encouragement, strength, and confidence.

👏🎓Congratulations Service Dog Class of 2025!🎓👏
We are proud of you and can’t wait to see what the future holds for each of you!

🎗JUNE IS PTSD AWARENESS MONTH🎗

Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is a mental health condition triggered by a traumatic event. Symptoms can include intrusive memories, avoidance, negative changes in mood and thinking, and changes in physical and emotional reactions. These symptoms can significantly impact daily life, making it difficult to work, maintain relationships, or experience joy.
PTSD affects millions of Veterans, First Responders, and others who have experienced life-altering events. This month, we honor their courage, raise awareness, and continue our mission to provide trained Service Dogs that bring hope, healing, and independence.

Mutts With A Mission is grateful to have incredible Community Pawtners!

On May 25th, we were invited to Warriors Taphouse in Virginia Beach for their Memorial Day Ceremony.  It was an afternoon dedicated to the lives and legacies of those who have served and made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. Thank you, Warriors Taphouse, for hosting this event and for the donation made to MWAM.

On June 5th, we were excited to welcome the front office staff of the Norfolk Admirals Hockey Team for a volunteer day.  Everyone worked hard getting our training facility clean and fresh, making a huge difference in just a few hours.  Of course, no visit would be complete without a special meet-and-greet with SDiT Flynn, who is proudly sponsored by the Admirals.   Thank you for your time, energy, and continued support.

❤️MISSION MOMENT❤️

SUMMER SAFETY FOR PUPS

Summer is fun, but the heat can be dangerous for our pups.

🌡️ Avoid midday heat: Walk your dog early in the morning or late in the evening when temperatures are cooler.
🔥 Check the pavement: If it’s too hot for your hand, it’s too hot for their paws. Use Wagwear Wagwellies boots on your pup's paws if the temperatures are above 80 degrees.
🚗 Never leave any animal in the car: Even with windows cracked, temperatures can rise dangerously fast.
💧 Stay hydrated: Always have fresh, cool water available, especially during outdoor activities.
🕶️ Watch for signs of overheating: Heavy panting, drooling, weakness, or vomiting are signs to act fast. Make sure to have your veterinary information stored on your phone.
A little caution goes a long way in keeping your pup safe and happy all summer long! 🐶
