COMMANDER IKE

In October of 2022, on a visit to the USS Wasp Mutts With A Mission was approached by the XO and the DRC from the wasp with the question, “how do we get a facility dog on our ship?”. from this question, a partnership between Mutts With A Mission and the US Navy was born with one purpose, to place highly trained and skilled Facility Dogs with mental health professionals on appropriate US Navy ships.

During New York Fleet Week, Ike, the Expeditionary Facility Dog on the USS Wasp, displayed exceptional dedication and unwavering commitment to supporting service members and Veterans. His presence during the busy event brought people together and lifted their spirits. Ike's positive impact built strong bonds with the crew and created a sense of togetherness. When Fleet Week ended, Ike went back to Norfolk with the Sailors, showing the Navy's strength and unity. His loyalty made a lasting impression on everyone who met him at this important event. Ike will continue to serve on the USS Wasp, where his dedication, skills, and passion for service will undoubtedly make a lasting impact on the entire crew and further strengthen the mission capabilities of the ship.
