HONORING OUR VETERANS

THANKFUL FOR ALL WHO SERVE

The United States has designated November 11th as Veterans Day. To some, this day means a 3-day weekend. Others may look for retail sales and discounts, and still more may look at this holiday as a day to sleep and lounge around the house. This day is truly about the brave and heroic men and women who have served in the United States military and have obtained an honorable discharge from said service. The intent of Veterans Day is to thank Veterans for their service, to acknowledge their contributions to our national security, and to recognize all those who have sacrificed for our freedom.

Ways you can honor and thank our Veterans:

Plan on attending a local city or town Veterans Day Parade or flag raising ceremony.  When Veterans see you in attendance, on a parade route, cheering and laying your right hand across your heart when you watch the American flag waving freely and being carried by a proud Veteran, it reminds him/her that the sacrifices made still matter.

Get out some construction paper, markers, and crayons and create a card to express your thanks to a deserving Veteran. Mail cards to: Operation Thank You, PO Box 5235, West Columbia, SC 29171.

Purchase a cup of coffee or a meal for a Veteran. Restaurants such as Applebee's, California Pizza Kitchen, Golden Corral, Huddle House and Red Robin, just to name a few, will be offering meal deals on November 11.  For a complete list of restaurants and coffee houses, go to Military.com 2024 Veterans Day Free Meals and Restaurant Deals

Veterans provide smiles and security, are dependable and brave, and deserve our respect. Consider donating to non-profit Veteran focused organizations, supporting Veteran owned businesses, or listening to stories told by America's heroes this Veterans Day, as a way to thank and honor them for all they have done for us.
